Karabakh Park and monument to Khojaly genocide open in Denizli, Turkey

A ceremony to open Karabakh Park and unveil a monument to Khojaly genocide has been held in Denizli province, Turkey.

Participants in the event included officials, MPs, intellectuals, heads of NGOs and media outlets and members of the general public.

Addressing the event, Mayor of Denizli Municipality Osman Zolan said that the initiative to open Karabakh Park in the province came from Azerbaijani MP Ganira Pashayeva, who made a speech at the conference on Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict a few months ago. "As a Mayor said that the offer will become a reality in a short period of time. And today I am very happy that the park is opening," he said.

Press secretary of Azerbaijan Writers' Union and Azerbaijani representative of ILESAM Khayal Rza thanked Denizli Municipality for the important action.

MP Ganira Pashayeva provided an insight into Armenia's aggressive policy against Azerbaijan, acts of vandalism committed in the occupied territories, and Khojaly genocide. She pointed to a double standard approach to the problem, adding that one million Azerbaijani refugees and internally displaced persons are still unable to return to their homelands. She expressed her regret that international organizations put no pressure on official Yerevan.

Turkish MP Nuraddin Aras highlighted the Khojaly genocide and underlined the importance of erecting such monuments in other regions too. He noted that Turkey stands and will always stand by brotherly Azerbaijan, which tries to liberate its territories from the Armenian occupation.
