Azerbaijani national polo team has become a winner of the 1st FIP Arena Polo European Championship held in Baku.

In the final, the Azerbaijani team faced German rival (6-5).

The championship was organized by the Azerbaijan Equestrian Federation, Elite Horse and Polo Club and Federation of International Polo.

The last day of the championship saw matches for the 5th and 3rd places.

Addressing the ceremony, president of the Azerbaijan Equestrian Federation Elchin Guliyev spoke of the care and attention that President Ilham Aliyev has provided to sports, including to development of equestrian sport in the country.

Prior to the final match, Italian team beat Swiss` (7-5) and ranked 5th, while Irish athletes didn`t allow the Spanish rivals to gain 3rd place.

Member of Azerbaijan`s national team Silvester Garros has been elected as most productive player of the championship.

Then, the participants saw Elchin Guliyev awarding the winners.

The ceremony ended with grandiose fireworks.

A total of six teams from Azerbaijan, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland, Italy and Spain competed for the title.
