On August 29th foreign participants of international seminar entitled "The role of the media in developing intercultural dialogue" visited the Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AzerTAc). 
They met the Agency`s Director General Aslan Aslanov.
AzerTAc`s chief stressed the necessity of holding such events, adding the media played an important role in strengthening the intercultural dialogue.
The Director General spoke of the history and activity of the country`s official news agency, which was founded in 1920.
Aslanov touched upon the achievements of Azerbaijan since national leader Heydar Aliyev`s returning to power, the national leader`s care and attention to AzerTAc and rapid development of modern Azerbaijan under President Ilham Aliyev.
The Director General said that Azerbaijan`s prestige and influence had considerable increased in recent years, adding the country became the regional leader.
"These successes opened new opportunities for expansion of AzertAc`s foreign relations even more."
Employee of Uzbekistan`s "Ca-news" agency Umida Maniyazova, editor of the Kyrgyz "AKI Press" information agency Yildiz Orospakova, Director of the Cultural and Research Centre of Turkey`s Bahçeşehir University Agah Karliaga, producer Cengiz Goktas, editor of Tajikistan`s "Night" newspaper Nazarali Pirnazarov praised Azerbaijan`s development.
Azerbaijan`s representative to TURKSOY Elchin Gafarly expressed interest in the activity of the Union of the Turkish Speaking News Agencies (TKA), which is chaired by AzerTAc.
The sides reached an agreement on establishing of cooperation between the two bodies, as well as broadcasting news about the activity of TURKSOY through TKA`s internet resource.
The foreign visitors also viewed AzerTAc`s multimedia and video news department.
