Anglo-Azerbaijani Society discuss progress archived in 2011

The Anglo-Azerbaijani Society`s (AAS) Board has held the meeting to discuss outcomes of 2011.
The event was attended by co-chairperson of the Anglo-Azerbaijani Society, prof. Nargiz Pashayeva.
English co-chair Lord Fraser spoke of the AAS` activities in the past year saying the two nations took bilateral relations forward and the society made its contribution to this process.
Fraser thanked Pashayeva for the successful activity.
He pointed out he is proud to receive the Dostlug order of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He assured the AAS would continue its efforts to expand humanitarian and cultural ties between the two countries. He branded as a "landmark event" the exhibition "Fly to Baku. Contemporary art from Azerbaijan" organized in London by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and English-version of the Baku magazine.
Fraser said the new website of the society had been launched.
Speaking of the activity of the society, Pashayeva noted importance of such societies increases in today`s world since such non-governmental structures are ready for the open dialogue and capable of solving many issues.
Azerbaijani ambassador Fakhraddin Gurbanov praised the activity of the AAS in 2011 and touched on the structure`s contribution to development of cultural ties between the two nations. He expressed hope that the organization would continue to gain successes in the future.
The meeting discussed the progress achieved last year, outstanding tasks in 2012. Participants endorsed the action plan for 2012.
The event also saw performance of Azerbaijani violinist Nigar Mirzoyeva who studies in the London Royal College of Music with the support of the Anglo-Azerbaijani society and Azerbaijani embassy.
