The 6th Azerbaijani Youth Forum with support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports started in Heydar Aliyev Palace, in Baku.
The event brought together about 2000 young people, state and government officials, representatives of the international humanitarian organizations, rectors of the Universities, MPs.
Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Intigam Babayev welcomed the participants and told of significance of the forum.
Chief of the political analysis and information provision department of the Azerbaijani President`s Administration Elnur Aslanov read out a letter of President Ilham Aliyev to the forum participants. The letter says this generation has been raised on the ideology of Azerbaijanism, has played an important part in the economic and cultural development of the state and is acquiring extensive opportunities to unlock their potential. On the state program of the Azerbaijani Youth for 2011-2015, President Ilham Aliyev said the existence of such program is clear evidence of the state`s youth policy. The key objectives of the program include active participation of the youth in various spheres of public life, their worthy place in society and international recognition".
Azerbaijani minister of youth and sports Azad Rahimov updated the guests on activity of the forum. Mr. Rahimov said the 6th Azerbaijani Youth Forum was coincided with the 20th anniversary of restoration of Azerbaijan`s independence.
The first Azerbaijani Youth Forum was held in Baku on February 2 1996 at the initiative of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
