The Romanian Foreign ministry has issued a statement condemning "parliamentary elections" held by the separatist regime in Azerbaijan`s Armenia-occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region.
The statement reads:
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken note that on May 23rd 2010 "parliamentary elections" are organized in the self-proclaimed republic of Nagorno-Karabakh. Romania does not recognize this action as legitimate and wishes to reiterate its consistent position of refusal to recognize the independence of the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reasserts its support for a peaceful, negotiated settlement of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh and is urging the involved parties to increase the pace of the negotiations process.
The Romanian side also wishes to reassert its support to the activity of the Minsk Group of the OSCE, as the sole format for negotiations to determine the future status of the Nagorno-Karabakh region."
