On March 6th Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov met Lithuanian counterpart Linas Linkevičius.
Welcoming his Lithuanian counterpart to Azerbaijan, Minister Mammadyarov praised the visit and noted dynamically developing bilateral ties across all areas. The Azeri Minister also said that this visit would bolster bilateral cooperation between the two states and informed his counterpart about achievements Azerbaijan has made in various sectors, including information and communication technologies and tourism.
Lithuanian FM Linas Linkevičius said he was delighted to visit Azerbaijan and his meetings during the visit have all gone well. He also said that Lithuania is keen to cooperate with Azerbaijan across various areas. As Lithuania will take over the EU presidency from July this year, Minister Linkevičius stressed the need to further strengthen the EU-Azerbaijan cooperation within Eastern Partnership programme. He also went on to praise Azerbaijan`s important role in the European energy security.
Speaking about the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said that changing borders by force is unacceptable in the 21st century. The Minister also stressed that Armenia should unconditionally implement decisions and resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council, as well as other international organizations.
