“The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict”

Dear colleagues,
I would like to once again draw your attention to a problem that can be solved only through concerted efforts of countries and international organizations: The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, which started as a result of Armenia`s ungrounded claims against Azerbaijan in 1987-1988, led to the occupation of 20 per cent of the lands of the Republic of Azerbaijan. As a result, nearly 30,000 Azerbaijanis died and 50,000 were wounded, while about a million Azerbaijanis became refugees and IDPs. Currently, the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven adjacent administrative units are under occupation of the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia. A massacre of February 25-26, 1992 in the town of Khojaly on grounds of nationalism and ethnic discrimination is just one of the brutal crimes committed by the Armenian side. The Khojaly massacre was the killing of 613 citizens with extra brutality. Among the dead were 106 women, 63 children and 70 old people.
Dear colleagues,
With the aforementioned taken into account, I think it is necessary that countries that are members of the international community support the internationally recognized territorial integrity, inviolability of state borders and sovereignty of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The killing of civilians by the Armenian armed forces in the town of Khojaly of the Republic of Azerbaijan on grounds of nationalism and ethnic discrimination should be considered a crime against humanity, and the international community should regard this as a threat to humanity, international security and peaceful co-existence of nations.
Finally, as a first step towards establishing peace in the region, democratic countries, which are members of the United Nations, should urge the Armenian side to fulfill the resolutions on the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict adopted by international organizations, particularly the resolutions 822, 853, 874 and 884 of the UN Security Council on the immediate, complete and unconditional withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from the occupied lands of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
