On December 10th Azerbaijan`s Foreign Ministry has released a statement as exploitation of the Gabala Radar Station came to a halt.
The statement reads: “The Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation had intense negotiations on the Gabala Radar Station.
During the talks, the Republic of Azerbaijan demonstrated readiness to continue cooperation with the Russian side with respect to extending the lease of the Gabala Radar Station. The sides failed to reach agreement during the negotiations.
The Russian Federation gave a note to the Azerbaijani side on invalidation of the ‘Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Russian Federation on status, principles and conditions of the use of the Gabala Radar Station’ from December 9, 2012, and saying it stops the use of the radar station from December 10, 2012.”
