On November 6th the defense ministries of Azerbaijan and Italy signed an agreement on cooperation.
The agreement was inked by Azeri minister Safar Abiyev and his Italian counterpart Giampaolo di Paola in Rome.
Speaking prior to the signing ceremony, the two ministers stressed the importance of military cooperation between their countries.
Abiyev drew the Italian Minister`s attention to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, saying Armenia continues the occupation of 20 per cent of Azerbaijan`s lands.
"We still have one million people who were driven out of their homes as a result of the Armenian military intervention. The four resolutions of the UN Security Council have not yet been fulfilled, and the activity of OSCE Minsk Group towards peaceful settlement of the conflict has not produced any results."
"Therefore, we are thinking seriously on this issue," Abiyev said, adding Azerbaijan will take any necessary step to liberate its occupied territories.
