The Nagorno-Karabakh problem will be discussed at the autumn session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, said deputy executive secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party, member of the country's delegation to NATO PA, Siyavush Novruzov.
He said Azerbaijan's delegation had a meeting with the Assembly's leadership during the spring session in Riga.
"We informed the Assembly officials that the Nagorno-Karabakh issue is being discussed at a number of leading international organizations. We told them that it is advisable to include the issue in the agenda of one of the sessions of the NATO PA."
"The leadership of the Assembly responded positively and gave relevant instructions to include the issue in the agenda of the autumn session. They have already appointed rapporteurs and the preparatory work is underway at a relevant committee."
Novruzov said NATO PA has always supported Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.
"A book marking the organization's 50th anniversary features a map which shows the Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan, with the center in Khankandi."
Novruzov also commented on Armenia's protesting the NATO PA`s decision to include the Nagorno-Karabakh issue in the agenda.
"The aggressor's efforts will give no fruits as the Parliamentary Assembly has already declined their appeal."
He said Azerbaijan and NATO enjoy "close cooperation", expressing confidence the organization would prevent "all attempts by Armenia to achieve the cancellation of the discussion on the Nagorno-Karabakh problem".
