Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has met Uruguayan President Jose Alberto Mujica Cordano as part of his visit to the country.
The President expressed satisfaction with a first official visit of the Azerbaijani delegation to Uruguay.
Mr. Cordano expressed confidence the visit would contribute to developing cooperation between the two countries.
Mammadyarov conveyed Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev`s greetings and best regards to Mujica Cordano.
The FM also handed over President Ilham Aliyev`s letter to the Uruguayan leader inviting him to Azerbaijan.
President Jose Alberto Mujica Cordano asked Mammadyarov to deliver his greetings and best regards to President Ilham Aliyev and thanked for the invitation.
The Foreign Minister briefed the President of Uruguay on the country`s development strategy, transnational projects implemented with the initiative and participation of Azerbaijan, as well as the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and its grave consequences.
During the meeting, they noted Azerbaijan and Uruguay enjoy wide potential for development of bilateral relations, in particular in the fields of energy, agriculture, pharmaceutics and information technologies.
They also discussed regional and international issues.
