Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin made a statement following the results of his visit to Azerbaijan.
Sergey Naryshkin, in particular, said that in the frame of his visit he carried out negotiations on a wide range of questions of inter-parliamentary ties. He has underlined that inter-parliamentary cooperation of Russia and Azerbaijan has high potential which was used not in full. "However, the reached arrangements give reason to hope for more positives in the years to come", Chairman of the State Duma underlined.
At his words, Russia and Azerbaijan have always effectively cooperated in the frame of various international parliamentary organizations, in particular, in the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. "It is necessary to tell that we, as a whole, have very similar, and at times the same points of view on key questions of the international life", Sergey Naryshkin emphasized.
Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation also informed that during his visit to Baku he had conversation on a wide range of questions connected with relations of two countries, including about cooperation in economic, political, social, humanitarian spheres.
Especially touching upon the humanitarian cooperation, Sergey Naryshkin underlined that this sphere is "very reliable base for the further development of relations between our countries". "Not casually in the frame of my visit I had meetings both with students, with representatives of scientific, creative intelligentsia of Azerbaijan. It was pleasant to me to hand over diplomas to the first graduates of the Baku branch of the Moscow State University. Today, I felt great pleasure from a meeting with students of the Baku Slavic University. And yesterday I had a meeting with the representative of creative, scientific intelligentsia. We spoke about value of science, culture and education in the present global world, importance of cooperation in these spheres for both countries which are one of the leaders on the post-Soviet space", Sergey Naryshkin said.
Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation noted that during the meetings he had serious talks in Baku related to development of the Eurasian integration which last years has received additional impulses. "We have in detail discussed prospects of the Eurasian integration in various spheres - economic, humanitarian, political, as well as the most delicate questions", he stressed.
