On July 5th President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy visited the Azerbaijani Parliament (Milli Majlis).
The guest was welcomed by speaker of Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov and other officials.
President of the European Council saw the hall of Milli Majlis and hailed conditions created for the MPs. Herman Van Rompuy met with Ogtay Asadov.
Speaker of Milli Majlis underlined first official visit of President of the European Council to Azerbaijan as a momentous event. Asadov said: "These relations will open a new page in developing relations between the two countries. Azerbaijan pays great importance to developing relations with the European structures. Development of relations with the European institutions is a priority for Azerbaijan`s foreign policy. Azerbaijan is keen to deep ties with the European Council in this context. Azerbaijan demonstrates faithfulness to the European values. Relations with the EU became deepen even more after Azerbaijan`s joining to the "Eastern partnership" Program in 2009."
