On June 29th Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received a delegation headed by Australian Prime Minister's special representative for Eastern Europe, the Balkans and Caucasus Russell Trood, the foreign ministry said. 
Mr. Mammadyarov greeted the Australian guests, expressing hope that this visit will promote the relations between the two countries in the years to come.
Mr. Trood highlighted Azerbaijan's geopolitical importance, stressing that Australia is interested in developing the bilateral relations with Azerbaijan.
In meeting, discussed were issues concerning the great potential for expanding cooperation between the two countries, the prospects of cooperation within international organizations, Azerbaijan's and Australia's contribution to peacekeeping operations.
