Turkmenistan`s attempts to conduct seismic exploration in the Kapaz field contravenes agreements reached between the presidents of the two countries, spokesman to the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan Elman Abdullayev said. 
On the statement of the Turkmenistan`s Foreign Ministry distributed by this embassy to Azerbaijan, Abdullayev noted that in accordance with the agreement between the presidents any kind of exploration work will not been carried out bordering sectors before signing the deal on division of the Caspian sea bed.
"Unfortunately, the Turkmen side tried to break the agreement and we voiced our protest and concern. Azerbaijan has sovereign rights in the Caspian and reserves the right to protect them," Abdullayev said.
