The Embassy of Russia in Azerbaijan arranged an official reception on the occasion of the state holiday - the Day of Russia.

Russian ambassador Vladimir Dorokhin said Azerbaijani-Russian relations achieved a level of strategic partnership. "The basis for partnership was laid during an active dialogue between the presidents of two countries," said ambassador.

On Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the diplomat said Russia makes every effort to solve this problem. "Resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict is priority for Russia," Dorokhin underlined.

Azerbaijan`s justice minister Fikrat Mammadov conveyed greetings of President Ilham Aliyev to the ambassador on the occasion of the state holiday of Russia.

Mammadov said friendship between two nations has centuries-old history. "The firm foundation between the two states was laid by great leader Heydar Aliyev. President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues this policy. Relations between the two countries are rapidly and dynamically developing in all sectors," the minister added.

The meeting was attended by Azerbaijani MPs, heads of the religious confessions and diplomatic corps.
