Azerbaijan many times stated its official stance on Iran. Azerbaijan does not interfere in any neighboring country's internal affairs and will not allow to use its territory for aggression against it. Azerbaijan will also respond to provocations, spokesman to the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan Elman Abdullayev told a press conference. 
In response to Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi`s words on alleged insult of Iranian saints, Abdullayev said unpleasant statements against Azerbaijani state had been voiced during the rally staged in front of the consulate general of Azerbaijan in the city of Tabriz. The Azerbaijani side expects apology of Iran for such actions and demands that such actions, which can harm relations between the two neighboring nations, never happen again.
Abdullayev refuted some media reports suggesting Azerbaijani ambassador in Teheran received a note at the Foreign Ministry of Iran, adding they have no grounds. He said while the ambassador was summoned to the Ministry but was not handed a note. The Azerbaijani diplomat was told about the reason of Iranian ambassador's withdrawal from Azerbaijan and that there are no serious problems between the two countries. The Iranian Ministry will just hold consultations with the ambassador.
