Permanent representatives of the GUAM Organization for Democracy and Economic Development held a briefing on the 35th item of the 66th session agenda of UN General Assembly on the theme of the "Protracted conflicts in the GUAM area (Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Moldova) and their implications for international peace, security and development". 
The briefing was attended by diplomats and media representatives, AzerTAc quotes Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the UN.
Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the UN Agshin Mehdiyev presented a detailed report about the history of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, the Armenian occupation of Azerbaijani territories, Azerbaijan's position, adding the conflict had terrible consequences for Azerbaijan.
The diplomat emphasized Azerbaijan is interested in the settlement of this conflict in the short term by negotiations. He stressed that Azerbaijan is committed to the negotiation process within the OSCE Minsk Group, but will never accept decisions based on the legalization of the status quo. Azerbaijan's territorial integrity will never be the subject of compromise.
Mehdiyev stressed that there is no alternative to the resolution of the conflicts within the framework of respect for state sovereignty, territorial integrity and internationally recognized borders.
"Unfortunately, the political leadership of Armenia does not admit that their destructive and dangerous policy has no prospects," Mehdiyev said.
He added that the international community must be concerned about all conflicts in the GUAM countries. Therefore, GUAM will continue its efforts to settle conflicts on the basis of generally accepted norms and principles of international law.
