President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev visited on Friday the Milli Majlis, the parliament of Azerbaijan. 
The Kyrgyz leader had a meeting with the parliament`s speaker Ogtay Asadov.
The speaker said Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan were bound by deep historical roots. He noted relations between the two countries were strengthening thanks to efforts of the presidents.
Asadov expressed belief that the Kyrgyz leader`s official visit to Azerbaijan would be useful for both countries.
He underlined the role of parliaments in expansion of relations between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan.
The speaker recalled that the next session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic speaking countries (TURKPA) would be held in Tashkent, adding "this kind of events would contribute to developing relations among Turkic speaking countries".
President Atambayev expressed satisfaction with his visit to Azerbaijan and thanked for hospitality. The President underlined the importance of negotiations held and documents signed during the visit in terms of strengthening the bilateral ties.
President Atambayev noted he was in Azerbaijan 21 years ago, adding and over the past years the country developed rapidly. According to him, projects carried out by Azerbaijan in the region and investments it makes in neighboring states proves that the country has great potential. The Kyrgyz President added Azerbaijan had great prestige in the world.
On the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict the President said his country supports Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.
Following the meeting President Atambayev addressed members of the Milli Majlis. The President spoke about ten thousand Azerbaijanis, subjected to repression in 1930s, were settled in Kyrgyzstan. He added in spite of difficulties they achieved great successes and now actively participate in Kyrgyzstan`s social life.
