French senator Nathalie Goulet`s has used the "questions to government" procedure at the French parliament to ask Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Bernard Kouchner about "France's attitude to representation of the so-called "Nagorno-Karabakh Republic" in France".
On behalf of the French Minister, Secretary of State Herve Novelli spoke at the France's Senate plenary session on July 6, saying France supports internationally recognized borders of Azerbaijan, its sovereignty and territorial integrity and does not recognize independence of Nagorno-Karabakh.
Novelli pointed out France does not maintain any contacts with Nagorno-Karabakh's "government agencies". According to the Secretary, Minsk Group co-chair Bernard Fassier is the only one who is entitled to travel to Nagorno-Karabakh and contact "governmental bodies" there.
On the recent trip of a few members of the French National Assembly to Nagorno-Karabakh, Novelli said they are to blame themselves and it is nothing to do with France's position.
