A delegation led by Deputy Chairman, Executive Secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), and head of Azerbaijan-China working group on interparliamentary relations, MP Ali Ahmadov is in China at the invitation of the Chinese Communist Party.
The goal of the visit is to discuss current state of and prospects for mutual cooperation, friendly and cooperative relations between Azerbaijan and China, as well as the two countries` parliaments and ruling parties.
During the trip, the Azerbaijani delegation met Thursday with He Guoqiang, Member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China.
Guoqiang recalled his last year`s visit to Azerbaijan.
He said Azerbaijan gained great achievements under the leadership of national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev.
The member of the Politburo Standing Committee also congratulated the Azerbaijani delegation on the 20th anniversary of the country`s independence.
He Guoqiang said relations between Azerbaijan and China developed in a variety of spheres, including political, economics and cultural fields during the 20 years.
MP Ali Ahmadov thanked He Guoqiang for the invitation.
He underlined such visits contribute to developing relations between the countries.
The Deputy Chairman, Executive Secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party said Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with China, adding the two countries have ample opportunities to expand bilateral ties.
Ahmadov highlighted Azerbaijan`s dynamic development and achievements.
The Deputy Chairman of the YAP expressed gratitude to China for the support in election of Azerbaijan as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, adding it was an evidence of friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.
He also thanked China for backing Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Ahmadov underlined Azerbaijan has always supported the One-China policy.
The Executive Secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party handed over an invitation letter of Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov to chairman of the Standing Committee of China`s National People`s Congress Wu Bangguo.
He Guoqiang thanked Azerbaijan for backing the One-China policy.
He underscored China has always supported Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.

The Azerbaijani delegation had a meeting at the foreign relations committee of the National People`s Representatives Congress.
During the meeting, current state and prospects of relations between the two countries` legislative bodies were discussed.

The delegation also had a meeting at the international relations department of the Chinese Communist Party.
The meeting discussed expansion of cooperation between the countries` ruling parties.

The Azerbaijani delegation`s visit to China is underway. Along with Beijing, the delegation will also visit Dalian and Taiyuan cities.
The delegation includes Deputy Executive Secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party Siyavush Novruzov, MPs Hadi Rajabli, Asaf Hajiyev, Huseybala Miralamov, Rauf Aliyev, member of the YAP Political Counsil Aydin Huseynov and deputy chairman of the party`s Youth Union Ramin Mammadov.
