The Foreign Affairs Committee of the Czech Parliament`s Chamber of Deputies has adopted a resolution in connection with the 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan`s independence. 
According to Azerbaijan`s Foreign Ministry, the resolution says Azerbaijan was a first secular democratic republic in the Turkic and Muslim world and one of the world states to provide a universal voting right. The resolution notes Azerbaijan was recognized by all democratic states, including the Czech Republic.
"Azerbaijan was independent in 1918-1920, then it was part of the USSR in 1922-1991. On October 18, 1991, Azerbaijani Parliament adopted a Constitutional Act. Territorial integrity, state sovereignty and independence of Azerbaijan were unconditionally recognized and supported by the Czech Republic. Azerbaijan is a strategic partner of Czech Republic, it plays an important role in diversification of European energy supply."
The resolution also praises Azerbaijan`s activity as a member of NATO`s PfP and EU`s Eastern Partnership programs.
