On October 6th Azerbaijani minister of internal affairs, Colonel-General Ramil Usubov met visiting Secretary General of INTERPOL Ronald Noble.
Usubov recalled close cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and International Criminal Police Organization.
The Minister underlined globalizing world, increasing integration opportunities cause different threats and it stipulates the joint fight against new kinds of crimes, transnational organized crime.
The Interior Minister said Azerbaijan attaches special importance to cooperation with INTERPOL, adding the country is interested in developing this cooperation even more.
One of main directions of cooperation is manhunt for suspects or search for missing people. Every year Interpol apprehends 60-70 people and bring them to justice.
Usubov said during 20 years of independence, Azerbaijan was integrating into the world with confidence and as a sovereign and legal nation, observing democratic principles and commitments in the field of human rights and freedoms, as well as crime control.
The parties stressed the meeting between President Ilham Aliyev and Ronald Noble would contribute to deepening relations between the country and the organization.
Noble said INTERPOL`s National Central Bureau in Azerbaijan organized its activity in accordance with the modern requirements, adding Azerbaijan is one of the first ten countries implementing secure global police communication services in the world.
He also praised relations between Azerbaijan and INTERPOL.
The Secretary General said he had eye-witnessed huge development in Baku since his last visit here in 2003.
They also discussed a number of issues of mutual interest.
