On July 25th President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski visited Azerbaijan`s Parliament (Milli Majlis), where he met with speaker Ogtay Asadov.
Prior to the meeting, the Polish President familiarized himself with an administrative building and meeting hall of the Parliament.
Mr. Komorowski also viewed national leader Heydar Aliyev`s memorial hall in the Parliament.
Ogtay Asadov said after regaining independence, Azerbaijan established wide relations with Poland.
He added documents signed between the two countries during the Heads of State`s visit served to dynamic development of relations.
The Speaker noted Azerbaijan contributes to ensuring Europe`s energy security.
Asadov underlined Azerbaijan and Poland have ample opportunities for deepening cooperation not only in the oil and gas sector, but also in the non-oil sector.
The Speaker underscored the role of parliaments in development of ties between the countries.
He also noted cooperation between the Milli Majlis and the Sejm as part of Twinning project of the European Union.
Asadov briefed the President on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
President Bronislaw Komorowski praised Azerbaijan`s achievements during the country`s independence.
The President said Poland was interested in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan not only in the energy sector, but in the non-oil sector.
Mr. Komorowski hailed the role of parliaments in strengthening relationship between Azerbaijan and Poland.
They also discussed prospects for development of bilateral relations, the ways of settlement of regional conflicts and expansion of interparliamentary cooperation.
