An international conference on "The necessity of adoption the definition of "political prisoner" concept" started in Azerbaijan`s capital.
The international conference is held with support of Azerbaijan Ministry of Justice, Association for Civil Society Development in Azerbaijan (AVCIYA), "Azerbaijan Human Rights ХХI century Fund", "Joint Working Group for Implementation of International Human Rights Standards", Association of Reintegration of Prisoners.
Addressing the conference member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Jaakko Laakso touched upon the necessity of preparation of criterions of the "political prisoner" concept.
Head of the law enforcement bodies department of Azerbaijan President`s Administration Fuad Alaskarov appreciated holding such conferences stressing the necessity of discussions on this issue.
Deputy Justice Minister of Azerbaijan Togrul Musayev provided information on criterions of the "political prisoner" concept and discussion on this issue by PACE.
AVCIYA President Elkhan Suleymanov underlined that the holding of this conference on the eve of Republic day is very important.
The international conference brings together deputies of Milli Majlis, representatives of state bodies, members of PACE committees on legal issues, human rights, monitoring and political issues, European parliamentarians, lawyers and experts, Constitution Courts judges from different countries, diplomatic corps accredited in Baku and international organizations.
