Serbian President: We support Azerbaijan`s sovereignty, territorial integrity and just position on Karabakh conflict

The Serbian President has said his country supports Azerbaijan`s sovereignty, territorial integrity and just position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Boris Tadic received Azerbaijan`s foreign minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
Tadic thanked the Azerbaijani government for supporting Serbia on the Kosovo issue.
The Serbian leader said he had friendly and good relations with Azerbaijan`s president Ilham Aliyev.
Tadic touched upon the economic relations between the two countries. He said the economic cooperation saw some revival, however, adding "the level of this cooperation falls behind our potential".
The Serbian leader noted the two governments and relevant organizations have a great responsibility to bring these relations to a higher level.
Tadic praised Azerbaijan`s geo-strategic significance.
"Azerbaijan has an important geo-strategic importance. It has great energy potential. Azerbaijan pursues a balanced policy in the international arena and in the energy sphere. Serbia is interested in developing the relations with Azerbaijan in these areas."
FM Mammadyarov highlighted political, social, economic and democratic reforms in Azerbaijan.
Mammadyarov said: "President Ilham Aliyev`s successful domestic and foreign policy to maintain political stability and economic development is fully supported by the people of Azerbaijan."
The Minister spoke of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, saying twenty percent of the Azerbaijani lands are under Armenian occupation. He added Armenia had not fulfilled four UN Security Council resolutions demanding an unconditional release of the occupied lands.
He also stressed the importance of resolving the conflict peacefully on the basis of the principles of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of borders and in accordance with international law.
Touching upon the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia, Mammadyarov stressed the necessity of boosting economic ties.
"Our economic relations fall behind our potential. There is great potential to boost our economic cooperation," he added.
