Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met the U.S. delegation led by Bill Shuster, the Republican Congressman from the State of Pennsylvania, member of the House Committee on Armed Services and the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and co-chairman of Congressional Azerbaijan Caucus.
The US Congressmen praised the current level of cooperation between Azerbaijan and USA.
They underlined Azerbaijan was an important country for the United States.
They Congressmen hailed Azerbaijan`s contribution and support to the fight against international terrorism, the country`s increasing role in global energy security and its participation in the security of regional and global stability.
Mammadyarov stressed the importance of dissemination of full and exact information about the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The Minister underlined the necessity of settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the territorial integrity of the country, withdrawal of occupation forces from the Azerbaijani lands for ensuring of peace and stability in the region, the restoration of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity and return of IDPs to their lands.
Mammadyarov briefed the delegation on current processes in the country and region. The Minister also underlined the role of Azerbaijan in development of the South Caucasus and in strengthening of the regional cooperation.
During the meeting, they also discussed a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
