On June 18th Azerbaijan's prime minister Artur Rasizade met Speaker of Saudi Arabia's Consultative Assembly, Shura Council, Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh.
Rasizade praised the political, cultural and educational relations between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia.
The Premier stressed the role of reciprocal visits in developing and expanding the bilateral relations.
"Visits by national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia played an outstanding role in bringing the relations between our states to today's level."
Rasizade emphasized the importance of boosting the economic relations.
The Prime Minister highlighted Azerbaijan's achievements, regional projects and foreign policy priorities.
On the country's economic accomplishments, Rasizade said: "The economic and financial crisis has had a little impact on Azerbaijan. We recorded good figures both in 2009 and in the first five months of the current year."
Rasizade said the Azeri government placed a particular emphasis on developing the non-oil sector.
On the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Premier condemned Armenia's "stalling tactics" in its settlement.
"It is aggressive Armenia's non-constructive position that impedes the process of finding a solution to the dispute."
"The conflict must be solved only on the basis of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and international legal norms," added the Premier.
Rasizade praised the Saudi government's supporting Azerbaijan on the conflict.
"We thank the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for backing Azerbaijan's just position on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict."
Abdullah Al-Sheikh said Saudi Arabia attached a special importance to all-round cooperation with Azerbaijan.
The Speaker of the Saudi Shura Council praised "large-scaled construction work in Azerbaijan".
Azerbaijan's Ambassador in Riyadh Tofig Abdullayev and Saudi Ambassador Fahd bin Ali Al-Dosari were present at the meeting.
