“The parliamentary diplomacy plays a special role in the development of Azerbaijan-Colombia relations,” said Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov as he met with the Colombian Senate`s First Vice President Daira de Jesús Galvis Méndez and Chairperson of Colombia-Azerbaijan Friendship Group, Senator Teresita Garcia Romero.

Mammadyarov thanked the Colombian Senate for supporting of Azerbaijan`s just position on resolution of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The senators hailed their meetings with Azerbaijan`s First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, Foreign Minister Mammadyarov and Azerbaijani MPs on the sidelines of the 5th International Humanitarian Forum in Baku.

A resolution on the 25th anniversary of Khojaly Genocide signed by the Colombian Vice President, head of the foreign relations and national security commission as well as senators was presented to the Azerbaijani FM.

Mammadyarov highlighted his meetings with Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos, Foreign Minister Maria Angela Holguin as well as local businessmen, adding that there are all opportunities for developing the two countries` economic and trade relations.
