Head of the Political Analysis and Information Provision Department at the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Elnur Aslanov has said Armenia`s move against the Moldovan Ombudsman is yet another evidence that official Yerevan is far from a constructive and rational policy.
“The Armenian leadership once again demonstrated that it is far from constructive negotiations. Now, other countries and their representatives understand that it is Armenia that is against peace and stability in the region.”
Mr. Aslanov noted: “The Moldovan ombudsman called Armenia to peace and to demonstrate rational position and to recognize the Khojaly genocide. That was not unusual. The Armenian president himself admitted that the Khojaly genocide was committed by Armenians to frighten Azerbaijanis.”
“But the Armenian authorities exerted pressure on the Moldovan ombudsman, and even wanted to prevent her from leaving the country.”
“This means, that the new stage of state terrorism conducted by the Armenian leadership continues. We have always witnessed the Armenian leadership`s fanaticism towards terrorist organizations and their representatives, including Monte Melkonian. The country has always backed terrorist organizations and their members,” he added.
Mr. Aslanov said Azerbaijan had always called on the Minsk Group co-chairs to be more active. “The current situation in the region, including the state of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh does not satisfy Azerbaijan.”
The Presidential Administration official expressed regret over “the Armenian leadership`s incorrect understanding of the Minsk group co-chairs` peace calls, and their efforts to demonstrate it as preservation of the status-quo”.
“This is unacceptable because Azerbaijan is strongly against the status-quo. Our firm position is that Azerbaijani occupied territories must be freed in order to restore peace and stability in the region. Our refugees and IDPs must return to their homelands. That will pave the way for peace and stability in the region.”
Mr. Aslanov noted “Armenia has always tried to blame Azerbaijan for its misfortunes. In fact, the Armenians have committed genocide act against Azerbaijanis for ages. The aim of President Ilham Aliyev`s policy is to help the world community rightly understand Azerbaijan`s fair position on the issue and to stop the aggressive policy of Armenia”.
“We are grateful to the countries, which recognized the Khojaly genocide, and hope the other countries will march in step with them”, Mr. Aslanov added.
