Azerbaijan’s Justice Minister Fikrat Mammadov met with the PACE Monitoring Committee co-rapporteurs Pedro Agramunt and Joseph Debono Grech.
The sides noted efficient cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe, as well as discussed the state of implementation of the commitments Azerbaijan took before the Council of Europe. The discussions revolved around the questions of independence of judicial power, the modernization of judicial infrastructure to simplify access to legal aid and fair judgment, the application of advanced IT technology, as well as reforms in the penitentiary sphere.
The PACE Monitoring Committee co-rapporteurs said they closely watch the ongoing democratic processes in the country, and hailed the bilateral cooperation as mutually beneficial.
