Pashinyan disappoints Armenians by new government program

Since Nikol Pashinyan came to power, many Armenian analysts were assuming that the new government program would not be appropriate for the country’s development. Today, when the program is ready, it becomes clear that the experts were right.

The first glaring flaw is that the new program consists mainly of political points and the economy is less addressed in it. In particular, preparation for early parliamentary election, formation of electoral lists and other similar issues are in the foreground of the program. İt is surprising that economic issues were left behind culture, science, military, health and environment in the document. This approach shows that the government of Nikol Pashinyan has no knowledge of how the state should develop. Of course, the above spheres are important, but they cannot develop if the economy is weak.

Another noteworthy fact about Pashinyan’s program is that it is maybe the first government program in the world that has not a single figure. Head of the Center for İnnovative and Institutional Research Atom Markaryan, who tried to justify the document, told journalists that “most likely this program combines the ideas of different political forces, which have different expectations in terms of quantitative indicators.” However, it is unclear how the “different political forces” are related to the program of Pashinyan’s government.

Moreover, the Armenians expect from the new authorities, first of all, the improvement of their well-being. People supported Pashinyan so that he would address their social problems. Therefore, they would like to see something specific in the government program rather than mere words.

“The chapter dedicated to the sphere of agriculture in the government program reminds the program of good wishes which is not disclosed,” Chairman of the Agrarian-Peasant Union of Armenia Hrach Berberyan told journalists. He noted that the current government faces the problem of lack of specialists and there is no awareness of the spheres.

“Unfortunately, the pages I am talking about are professional directions. I believe there were no professionals who could disclose these pages and make them available to the society,” Berberyan said.

Thus, Armenia chose a new government which has no enough experience of ruling a country and its economy. Therefore, the country’s population will have to suffer a bit longer until Pashinyan and his team realize what ruling a country really means and what the population want from them.
