Azerbaijan proposes studying consequences of armed conflicts for children, Sevinj Fataliyeva, a member of the Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE (Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe) said at the winter session of the PACE Jan.25, Trend reports.

"We must remember that many children live in the zone of armed conflicts," she said, when presenting the report “Protecting children affected by armed conflicts”.

Sevinj Fataliyeva, a member of the Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE stressed that the aim of her report is to draw attention to the fate of children suffering from conflicts in Syria, Sudan, Myanmar, as well as the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

“Unanimously adopting a resolution based on a report by Sevinj Fataliyeva (Azerbaijan, EC), the parliamentarians said they were “very worried about the short and long-term consequences of armed conflicts on children: they are immediately affected in their daily lives, their healthy development, and their trust in other human beings and public institutions. Many of them will subsequently be traumatised for their entire lives.”—PACE site noted.

According to PACE site, the Assembly proposed a raft of measures, including rehabilitating child soldiers, training professionals to deal with children who have left conflict zones, and educating children on “non-violent approaches for ending aggression and conflict.
