French Constitutional Council abolished the law on criminalization of denial of so-called "Armenian genocide" adopted by the Senate, thus, supporting democratic tradition of freedom of thought and expression, Ali Ahmadov, deputy chairman and executive secretary of Yeni Azerbaijan Party, MP, said. 
Ahmadov noted that the French Constitutional Council took into consideration not the president`s opinion, but the opinion of the French public and thus prevented a historical blemish on country`s democracy. Interests of the ancient country were not sacrificed to the personal interests of the president as it would be an injustice of history. This would, at the same, be a blow to the image of France in the world". "Manifestation of unity of the Turkish and Azeri public also played important role in abolishment of the law", Ahmadov stressed.
Noting that unity and solidarity always stimulate success", Ahmadov said friendship and solidarity of Turkey and Azerbaijan will lead to greater and more important triumphs in the years to come. The Constitutional Council of France has passed a decision which is right both legally and politically.
