Balkan states-Azerbaijan business forum held in Belgrade

Belgrade has hosted the first meeting of Azerbaijan-Serbia intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation and Balkan states-Azerbaijan business forum. 
The meeting of the intergovernmental commission focused on prospects for cooperation between the two countries in various spheres of economy.
Azerbaijan`s Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev said at the meeting that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia were developing successfully in various spheres. The Minister stressed the importance of reciprocal visits by presidents of the two countries.
Mustafayev underscored official Belgrade`s support for Azerbaijan when the country was elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
Touching upon Armenia`s aggressive policy against Azerbaijan, the Minister said official Yerevan isolated itself from the regional projects.
Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said his country attaches significant importance to development of relationship with Azerbaijan. He expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries would further develop.
The meeting participants also discussed how to implement joint projects in energy, transport, agricultural, ICT spheres, chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries. They also underlined the importance of establishment of cooperation between Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation, AZPROMO and Serbian Investment and Export Promotion Agency, SIEPA.
During the meeting Azerbaijan Investment Company and Serbia`s Farmacom company agreed to cooperate on reprocessing accumulators.
The participants also exchanged views on cooperation in the areas of education, healthcare, culture, tourism and sports.
Ministers Mustafayev and Jeremic signed a Protocol on the results of the first commission of intergovernmental commission.

The Balkan states-Azerbaijan business forum brought together officials and more than 40 businessmen from Azerbaijan and about 250 businessmen from Balkan states.
The forum was organised by AZPROMO and National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers`) Organizations with support of Economic Development Ministry.
Addressing the event, Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev briefed the participants on the progress made in Azerbaijan to improve entrepreneurship and investment climate. According to him, there is solid legal basis for economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia. He noted trade turnover between the two countries increased by 18, 3 percent in nine months of the current year. "Export from Azerbaijan to Serbia grew 3-fold, while from Serbia to Azerbaijan 18 percent," the Minister added.
Mustafayev invited Azerbaijani and Serbian businessmen to participate in investment projects.
Minister of Economy and Regional Development of Serbia, Nebojsa Ciric spoke of the opportunities for bilateral economic cooperation.
President of AZPROMO Adil Mammadov spoke about business opportunities and investment climate in Azerbaijan, President of Serbian Trade and Industry Chamber Milosh Bugarin highlighted economic potential of his country.
As part of the forum, businessmen held bilateral meetings to expand cooperation.
