On October 10th an international conference titled "Building bridges over borders" co-organized by GUAM Parliamentary Assembly and Baltic Assembly started in Azerbaijani Parliament. 
Opening the meeting, head of Azerbaijani delegation to GUAM PA Elton Mammadov spoke of the importance of the event. He pointed out that the conference "will contribute to strengthen ties between GUAM PA and Baltic Assembly".
Mammadov also informed the participants on Azerbaijan`s social-economic development, its role in region, as well as the problems Azerbaijan faces.
Head of Azerbaijani delegation to GUAM PA noted that as a result of Armenian aggression and ethnic cleansing policy 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories have been occupied, and over one million Azerbaijanis became refugees and IDPs. He noted existence of double standard policy of the international community concerning Nagorno Karabakh problem.
Speaking in the conference, GUAM PA chairman Anatoli Dimitriou said that the meeting "is important step for GUAM countries towards boosting relations with the European Union (EU)".
The meeting is attended by experts and representatives from Baltic countries and GUAM member states.
