Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has met with Mexican counterpart Mrs. Patricia Espinosa, as part of his official visit to the country.
Mrs. Espinosa said "Mexico attaches great importance to the relations with Azerbaijan".
She noted the necessity of developing economic and trade relations between the two countries.
The Mexican minister underlined her country was interested in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan in energy sector.
Mrs. Espinosa added Mexico was keen on its young experts` studying in the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy.
The Mexican FM recalled the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Mexico in 2010, adding it was good opportunity to educate Mexican public about Azerbaijan.
Mammadyarov said the fact that Azerbaijan`s first embassy in the Latin America opened in Mexico, stressing it was a vivid evidence of the importance that official Baku attaches to relationship with Mexico.
The FM briefed his Mexican counterpart on the ongoing talks to settle the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
During the meeting, the parties discussed bilateral relations, in particular economic cooperation.
Mammadyarov informed Mrs. Espinosa about Azerbaijan`s successful energy cooperation.
He said the two countries have wide potential to boost energy cooperation.
The Minister also addressed a conference on "Azerbaijan`s foreign policy" in the Mexican Diplomatic Academy.
He highlighted Azerbaijan`s achievements in the economic and energy spheres, as well as the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The event brought together members of the Mexican Congress, state and government officials, as well as representatives of diplomatic corps.
The Azeri Minister met with Mexican journalists.
