A première of Azerbaijani comedy "Shakespeare" by prominent dramatist, People`s Writer Elchin was held in English in the Vanguard theatre of the Horse Hospital Art Center, the UK on Monday.
Elchin Afandiyev was present at the show.
Producer of the play is head of Grantler`s Art Group, outstanding theatrical figure David Perrier.
Peter Stamford, Jovan Matic, Eleanor Bennet, Conrad Peters and other actors successfully performed the play.
Azerbaijan Embassy in the UK organized a reception prior to the premiere.
Addressing the event, David Perrier said that Elchin`s drama has a special role in a modern world theatre. . He also underlined that the problems raised in Azeri playwright`s dramaturgy face no geographical restrictions.
The producer also thanked Azerbaijan Embassy in the UK and the European Azerbaijan Society for the support.
Azeri ambassador Fakhraddin Gurbanov noted that the production of the Azerbaijani comedy at the London`s stage indicates to the steadily developing cultural relations between the two nations.
Author of "Shakespeare" play Elchin expressed his gratitude to the staff and everyone who provided his assistance.
The first night gathered prominent theatrical figures of the UK, writers, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to London, mass media and members of the Azerbaijani Diaspora.
Uns Theatre in Baku was the first to host the "Shakespeare" play.
The show is expected to be staged in Turkey next year.
